These sessions have a focus on introducing young athletes to a variety of athletic disciplines such as shorter sprints; jumps and some throws. The coaching team look to prepare junior athletes for competitions such as the Mini League Sports Hall, Cross Country League and the Track and Field Leagues.
These sessions focus on developing athletes as Sprinters and Hurdlers. The coaching team of Kev Smith and Bernice Wilson have extensive experience coaching across the sprint disciplines.
All 4 throws are taught on a rolling cycle of Javelin; cage throws (Discus & Hammer); shot put (Discus & Hammer) with both sessions in a week focussed on the same disciplines. The coaching team is led by Stu Thomas.
The jumps sessions alternate between Long Jump and High Jump sessions with additional plyometric exercises to prepare athletes to jump in a range of disciplines. Triple Jump coaching is offered to older athletes. The jumps coach is Ruth Shivas.
The middle distance group prepares athletes for the events relevant to the season, so during Autumn and Winter the focus is on preparing athletes for the Cross Country season and during the summer for the Track and Road racing season. The coaching team consists of Damian Davies, Gareth Bagguley, Bill Taylor & Rob Lindsay.
