As a competitive athletics club we have opportunities across the age ranges to pull on a Newark vest and represent your club. As part of your membership of the club, you will be able to compete indoors and outdoors, taking part in Track and Field competitions; cross country competitions; summer road races and others.
We enter teams in a diverse range of events, and you will always be welcome to represent the club or to simply don your vest in an independent challenge. Club events that are included as part of your membership fee will be published online and via club communications.
Junior members at Newark Athletic Club can take part in a diverse Nottinghamshire Mini League series of events across the year.
Athletes from U10 – U16 can represent Team Newark at a series of indoor competitions that run through the autumn/winter. These events typically take place on Sundays. Whilst the focus is on competing as a Team, athletes who excel can find themselves selected to represent Nottinghamshire at regional events and (potentially) beyond.
Athletes from U10 – U16 can represent Team Newark at a series of 5 cross country races that are held around the county, typically on Sundays. Again, the primary focus is on a team prize so the more athletes who take part the better! The top 3 athletes from across the county and the series of races will enjoy individual glory too.
Athletes from U10 – U16 can represent Team Newark at a series of 4 matches that are held around the county. As with the other junior events the focus is on Team Newark as we compete against the other clubs in the League. These matches are a great opportunity for junior athletes to try new events, set personal bests and hopefully enjoy summer sunshine and camaraderie!
Other events that junior members can take part in across the year include the North Midlands Cross Country league; the National Cross Country relays; the Midland Road relays; County Cross Country Championships; County Track and Field Championships and many more opportunities beside.
Members can take part in an abundance of Cross Country events across the Autumn and Winter. There are opportunities to race both as an individual and as part of a team in the North Midlands Cross Country League (a series of 4 matches across the Midlands); the East Midlands Cross Country League (a series of 4 matches across Nottinghamshire); the multi-stage Midlands Cross Country Relays and the National Cross Country Relays. We also support members to participate in their respective county Cross Country Championships.
Senior members can represent the club at the Midland Road Relays taking on the best clubs from across the Midlands. They can compete in the Nottinghamshire Summer League series (4 races across the county) that takes place in the Summer Months
The club field teams in the Northern Athletics League where we compete to be promoted by taking part in 4 Track & Field matches across the summer. Athletes are selected for individual events where points are scored based on perfomances and positions in events. In addition to the Northen League fixtures senior athletes can take part in the County Development League where the emphasis is on trying new events and improving competition performances in a series of 4 matches across the summer.
As with junior members our senior athletes can also take part in other competitions to represent the club.
