It was the intercounties xc on Saturday 7 March which took place at Wollaton Park, always a tough place to run with the hard hills but conditions underfoot were surprisingly good. The intercounties xc is where the top 9 athletes from each county in England (6 to score) compete.
Newark AC had athletes compete in both the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire teams.
The senior men’s Lincolnshire team had a great performance finishing 5th overall, with many of the runners made up from Newark AC. Jacob Parkinson came 42nd, Elliot Smith- Rasmussen 59th, Joe Wilkinson 61st, Marcus Chesterton 64th and George Hatton 87th.
In the Nottinghamshire men’s team who came 15th, we had Ed Buck running who also had a fantastic race finishing 5th overall with Tom Marshall coming in 203rd
The Nottinghamshire senior ladies team came in 16th place with Rebecca Taylor coming in 146th and Jasmine Braithwaite came 117th in the u20s ladies’ race.
