Regional Champ!

Combined athletics teenager Luke Sayer is a regional champion after a fine performance at the weekend.
He put in two personal bests as he won the Yorkshire Combined Events Under-17 Octathlon Championship at Cudworth.
16year-old Luke tackled four events on Saturday and four on Sunday.
On the first day he started with a personal best of 17-05secs in the 100m hurdles. He then recorded 4-97m in the long-jump, 9-09m in the shot putt and 56-09 in the 400m.
That gave Luke a total of 1,854 points at the end of the first day and a lead of 318 points over second place.
On day two he again started with a personal best, throwing a terrific 30-45m in the discus — two metres more than his previous best.
He then jumped a slightly disappointing 1-39m in the high jump, threw 29-04 in the javelin and completed the 1,500m in 5-08.
Luke finished with 3,416 points, 380 points clear of second-placed Reagan Langley, of Worksop Harriers,  Luke’s Nottinghamshire teammate.
Luke is now looking forward to competing for Nottinghamshire on September 16 and 17 in the English Schools Athletic Association Combined Events Championships Finals at Boston.
